Be Bold… (subtly)!

Hello, hello, hello!!!

Im back with a pretty simple card today. I love coffee and need to create more coffee themed projects… and so I will begin with this card. I also am using Prismacolor Premier Soft Core colored pencils for the first time! EEEEE.. wish me luck. I bought the 150 set on Amazon when they were having their crazy sale and that was back in October-ish? All I know is that they’ve been sitting here…waiting for me to use them! I didn’t know what to expect or know any techniques… so I just dived in!

First I started off by cutting some of the layers for the card front using Craftin’ Desert Divas Fancy Frame dies. I used Doodlebugs plaid cardstock from the Sugar & Cream stack for the scallop mat & 110pd white cardstock for the rectangle mat. I stamped out that cutie girl and the “be bold” sentiment using Jaded Blossom’s Java Time stamp set. She’s sooo cute! I then pulled out my pencils and cell phone (to google color combinations) and set out to work. The pencils definitely went on sooo nicely. Very soft, and blends well. I really like these pencils, but I know I need to practice more to improve on shading, texture, and will have to probably make a color chart to make life easier. After coloring her, I added the grassy knoll and finger daubed the clouds in using My Favorite Things Stencil Mini Cloud Edges. I added some Wink of Stella to her mug and to the center of her hair bow to give it some sparkles. I was verrrrry tempted to add something to give it dimension, but I restrained myself. Sometimes I have to tell myself its ok to not go overboard and make it all pop at once. Sometimes the subtleness of colors or textures can be all the POP it needs.

Oh but, I did add something on the back of the card using Elizabeth Craft Designs Coffee & Tea stamp set… couldn’t help it cause it’s so true for most of us, right?! 😂

Thank you for visiting!!! Hope you’re having a great day!

Hugs- Kim♥
